UNIPORT Postgraduate Application Forms – 2024 Admission

Are you considering pursuing postgraduate studies at the University of Port Harcourt? Here’s a simple guide on the application procedure and admission requirements.

Entry Requirements: O/LEVEL

All candidates must have a credit pass in English Language and Mathematics for all courses. If you obtained your O’Level Certificate before 2012 without a credit pass in Mathematics, you can still apply to certain departments in the Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Education, and Faculty of Social Sciences (excluding the Department of Economics).


For Postgraduate Diploma Programmes (PGP), a Bachelor’s Degree in related disciplines is required. Second Class Honours Degree or Third Class in the related discipline is acceptable. HND holders need a minimum of Upper Credit in relevant Departments. However, candidates with a Third Class should not apply for the Postgraduate Diploma in Chemistry (PGDC) Programme.


Candidates need at least a Second Class Honours Degree from the University of Port Harcourt or any recognized University, in the relevant course, with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a 5-point scale or its equivalent. MBA candidates must have a strong quantitative background, and those with PGD must have a CGPA of 3.50 to register for Master’s Degree in the relevant field.


Ph.D. candidates should have a Master’s Degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 or 4.00 (depending on the Department) or its equivalent grade in the relevant discipline at the Master’s level. Admission is based on interview performance. Ph.D. involves coursework and a qualifying examination.


Candidates must be graduates of Medicine (MBBS) of the University of Port Harcourt for at least five (5) years or confirmed and experienced academic staff of the University with a Medical Degree from a recognized University. Additionally, candidates must possess a recognized professional qualification at the fellowship level or at least an M.Sc Degree of a recognized University after the MBBS Degree.

Application Procedure

  1. Pay the application fee of N15,000.00 online at specified banks.
  2. Pay N7,000.00 for the Prospectus.
  3. Visit https://www.uniport-sgs.com/ to download application forms after payment.
  4. Note that payment for the application form does not guarantee admission, and the application fee is non-refundable.

Enclosures to Accompany Application Forms

Include two copies of the following documents:

  1. Degree or Postgraduate Diploma Certificate
  2. NYSC Discharge Certificate or Exemption Certificate
  3. O’Level Certificate
  4. Birth Certificate/Affidavit of Age Declaration
  5. Marriage Certificate or Newspaper Publication of Change of Name, where applicable
  6. Local Government Identification Letter
  7. Receipts of payment for the Form
