Entry Requirements: O/LEVEL
All candidates must have a credit pass in English Language and Mathematics for all courses. If you obtained your O’Level Certificate before 2012 without a credit pass in Mathematics, you can still apply to certain departments in the Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Education, and Faculty of Social Sciences (excluding the Department of Economics).
ALL PGP PROGRAMMES
For Postgraduate Diploma Programmes (PGP), a Bachelor’s Degree in related disciplines is required. Second Class Honours Degree or Third Class in the related discipline is acceptable. HND holders need a minimum of Upper Credit in relevant Departments. However, candidates with a Third Class should not apply for the Postgraduate Diploma in Chemistry (PGDC) Programme.
MASTER’S DEGREE PROGRAMMES
Candidates need at least a Second Class Honours Degree from the University of Port Harcourt or any recognized University, in the relevant course, with a minimum CGPA of 3.00 on a 5-point scale or its equivalent. MBA candidates must have a strong quantitative background, and those with PGD must have a CGPA of 3.50 to register for Master’s Degree in the relevant field.
Ph.D PROGRAMMES
Ph.D. candidates should have a Master’s Degree with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 or 4.00 (depending on the Department) or its equivalent grade in the relevant discipline at the Master’s level. Admission is based on interview performance. Ph.D. involves coursework and a qualifying examination.
MD/MS PROGRAMME
Candidates must be graduates of Medicine (MBBS) of the University of Port Harcourt for at least five (5) years or confirmed and experienced academic staff of the University with a Medical Degree from a recognized University. Additionally, candidates must possess a recognized professional qualification at the fellowship level or at least an M.Sc Degree of a recognized University after the MBBS Degree.
