UNIBEN Postgraduate Application Forms – 2024 Admission

Are you considering pursuing postgraduate studies at the University of Benin (UNIBEN)? Here’s a straightforward guide on the application procedure and admission requirements to help you navigate the process easily.

Entry Requirements:

1. Educational Qualifications:
   • A candidate must have at least five (5) credits in WASC, NECO, GCE (ordinary level, or equivalent), with a credit pass in Mathematics and English.
   • Four credits at the Ordinary level plus OND, NCE, IJMB, or Advance level passes are also accepted.
   • Holders of a Pass (Degree/Diploma) are not eligible for postgraduate admission.
   • Those with a 3rd class degree must possess a PGD for admission into Master’s programs.
2. Master’s Degree Requirements:
   • Candidates with a Master’s degree and a Weighted Average Score (WAS) between 55.0-59% can apply for the M.Phil program initially.
3. Ph.D. Requirements:
   • Ph.D. applicants must have a weighted average score of 60% or a letter grade ‘B’ average in the Master’s degree.
   • Candidates with a Master’s degree from another university must have taken equivalent compulsory courses and passed with a minimum of 60% or a letter grade ‘B’.
4. NYSC Certificate:
   • Only applicants with the NYSC discharge, exemption, or exclusion certificate are eligible for admission.

Transcripts:

Candidates should request transcripts from their former institutions to be forwarded to the “Secretary, School of Postgraduate Studies” within 8 weeks of the application. Applications without transcripts will not be processed.

Application Procedure:

1. Click on “Online Application” and then “Start a new application.”
2. Fill in personal data and select “Programme Type,” Faculty, Department, and first and second choice courses.
3. Click on “Pay With Card” for the application fee payment using Visa or Master Card on Remita.
4. After successful payment, an Application Number will be generated, and a Reference Number will be sent to your email.
5. In case of payment issues, send your reference or RRR number to [email protected] for assistance.
6. Upload your passport in JPEG format, not exceeding 100kb.
7. Complete all required fields, especially your email address, before proceeding to payment.
8. If you have a result other than WAEC and NECO, select “Other” and provide the exam name.

Submission and Deadline:

Submit and print out the online completed Application Form and referee form. The closing date for application submission.

• Q: Can I apply with a Pass in my Degree/Diploma?
